Poetry and Cover Art Contest

28th Annual Youth Poetry & Cover Art Contest

About
All qualified poems will be judged separately in each grade level and language. All poems will be judged on originality, creativity, clarity, and spelling. Three winners from each grade level and in each language will be selected. Winners will be invited to an awards ceremony in April with an opportunity to read their poems for the audience. All selected poems will be published in an official poetry contest booklet.

New this year, is an opportunity for student artwork to be on the cover of our official poetry booklets! One winning design will be selected from grades 1-6 as the cover of the children’s poetry booklet, and one winning design will be selected from grades 7-12 as the cover of the teen poetry booklet. One runner-up from each grade level will be selected to be published within the booklets. Winners will be invited to an awards ceremony in April where their winning pieces will be on display.

Entry forms may be downloaded from this site or picked up at any El Paso Public Library location. All finalists will be notified via mail by March of 2018.
