Youth Poetry Contest

30th Annual Youth Poetry & Cover Art Contest

All qualified poems will be judged separately in each grade level and language. All poems will be judged on originality, creativity, clarity, and spelling. Three winners from each grade level and in each language will be selected. Winners will be invited to an awards ceremony in April with an opportunity to read their poems for the audience. All selected poems will be published in an official poetry contest booklet.

Cover art designs will be judged based on creativity and originality by local artists. One winning cover art design will be selected from grades 1-6 as the cover of the children’s poetry booklet, and one winning design will be selected from grades 7-12 as the cover of the teen poetry booklet. One runner-up from each grade level will be selected to be published within the booklets.

Youth may enter both contests, but only one entry per participant per contest. Deadline for all entries is Saturday, February 15, 2020. Finalists will be notified via mail by late March, and invited to the awards ceremony in April.

Entry forms may be downloaded by clicking on the links below or picked up at any El Paso Public Library location.
